Give me your tired, your poor...your huddled masses...

We made it! Although we're still hyperventilating from the drive in, we're here and enjoying discovering all the sights we've only seen in movies and TV. We decided to drive the car rather than take the train from Pennsylvania to save time and money (really!). When we approached Manhattan, cars and taxis were everywhere and our Garmin lost the signal in the Lincoln Tunnel. After a few frantic minutes, we found our parking garage and all was well. I don't recommend this decision but hey, we're almost Romanian missionaries. We can do anything!

Thanks to Priceline and a nice Marriott Reservation desk guy, we had a fabulous room overlooking Time Square. The lights from the Jumbo Tron were so bright we didn't need a night light!

First things first! A photo shoot in Time Square!

As luck would have it, we arrived just in time for the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall. There were billions of people, most of them were just like us wondering why we were there and who were we trying to see. It was just fun to be in the hype, I think.

And then we sat down in the middle of Time Square and watched the Tony's. What did you do on Sunday night?

Here we are in front of the Ed Sullivan Theatre. The next afternoon we scored tickets for a taping of the David Letterman Show. It was a blast, except for the lame guest, Howard Stern. Our new friend, Dave put on quite the show and we loved being a part of it. I've never clapped so much in my life!

Can you believe there's a naked cowboy who plays a guitar and every girl in the world wants to have a picture with him? What's the point? I think I've seen him at Valley Fitness, minus the hat and boots.

To get cheap tickets for a Broadway show, crazy people line up to pay big bucks. I was in this line and got tickets for Chicago. Is $75 a good price? Don't look back! Chicago was fabulous!

Rupert and Denny at Hello Deli! If you watch Letterman, you know all about this guy. We had a sandwich there. (Who do you think was more excited, Denny or Rupert?)

On my wish list for New York was to see a taping of Good Morning America. This is Robyn Roberts. We almost made eye contact...!

A highlight one morning was a subway ride and a walk in the rain to the east side of Manhattan to Ess-a's Bagels. Thanks Rick Leavitt for the hot tip! We loved the bagel breakfast and got yelled at for not ordering to "eat in" by the Bagel Nazi! How do you know how New Yorkers do it unless you try (and take the wrath.)

We took an open top bus tour and saw tons. This is the Brooklyn Bridge!

For Jonathan and Suzette...Law and Order TV show always starts with this scene.

Very cool! Next time we go to NYC we'll climb to the top. On July 4th, you'll be able to do it. It has been closed since 9/11.

We took time off from our break-neck touring schedule to go to the Manhattan Temple. I have a great appreciation of what New Yorkers go through to make the effort to get there. For us, it was a long walk in the rain and a subway ride. We loved the feeling of the rare serenity in the midst of a bustling city. We're so glad we made the effort.


No trip to New York is complete without a walk through Central Park. Yes, we did it! What a jewel to have in the middle of this huge city. If I lived here (just shoot me) I'd spend lots of time here!

And finally, as we picked up our car after 3 days and $105 in the parking garage, who do you think I ran into, putting on his boots from the back of his Escalade? He wanted his picture taken with me and I had to oblige!

Only in New York City!
